Garden Grove Canyon

Garden Grove Canyon Triptych, Utah, 2013

I was hiking in the Wasatch mountains above the town of Pleasant Grove, Utah.

I had just entered Grove Creek Canyon when I saw a large red animal up on the rim of the canyon, about 100 feet above me. It looked about as tall as a large man.

There was little wind, but I did not notice any strange smell. I quickly realized that I was looking at a Bigfoot. I stood and observed the animal for about 5 seconds, then it walked away from the rim of the canyon, out of view. I looked for it throughout the rest of the hike but I did not see it again.

It appeared to be looking east, up the canyon and into the small valley between the foothills, where we were, and Mt. Timpanogos. After I had watched it, it turned it's back to me and walked out of view. I can only guess that it was looking for prey.

This occurred sometime between 3:00pm-4:00pm in May of 1996.

South Weber, Paulene Markham's Backyard

South Weber, Paulene Markham's Backyard, Utah, 2013

Paulene Markham said she saw whatever it was walking along the ridge of a hill behind her house a week ago Sunday.

Miss Markham said she was about a half mile from it. She was standing at her kitchen sink, getting a drink of water about 4 p.m., when she looked up and saw it on the hill.

"I looked at it and I thought, 'Well, I'm going crazy,'" she said. "Then, I walked away from the window and came back, and it was still there." Miss Markham said she was frightened and curious, but she didn't go outside to get a closer look. She said she was home alone, it would have taken a snowmobile to get up the hill, and she was late for church anyway. So she left the house and went to church, telling only one friend about it.

"I really don't know what it was, I just don't have the slightest idea, because I don't know if I believe in Bigfoot," Miss Markham said.

South Weber, Ronald Smith's Property

Ronald Smith's Property, South Weber, Utah, 2013

About 12:20 a.m. Feb. 4 1980, Ronald Smith was arriving home from work. He got out of his truck and walked back to his pasture on South Weber Road and heard something out in the field. What he heard and later saw, he now believes is Bigfoot. “I was going back to feed the horse and he wouldn't come to the fence. I started out there to feed him and I heard, crunch, crunch, it was something walking on two legs through the snow.  Since only the horse is out there, I thought it might have been some kids getting into something”, Smith said. “I looked out there, it was moonlit, and I saw this dark figure walking across the pasture. I thought it was a high school kid trying to get away before I saw him. I didn't think of how big it was.”

Smith continued, “I saw it walk into some trees. The horse wasn't scared, but it was acting a little funny and looking over that way. Then I heard the screams. They were unlike anything I've ever heard. They sounded like a cougar, but only with a lot of volume. They were just different. I got out of there and into the house”, Smith said. “My wife was telling me to get a gun or a camera, but it only lasted seconds. It screamed four times when I was outside and three more times after I got inside. I told my wife, 'I think it's Bigfoot out there' and I was sort of kidding, but those screams were unbelievable.”

Smith said if the beast hadn't screamed, he would have passed off the figure in the moonlight as a “kid in the pasture.” Smith went into the field the next day to look for tracks and said he found marks about six feet apart that looked like it was something with toes, but that the horse had trampled the tracks throughout the night. He also said he thought his horse was “acting funny” for several days and he feels that could have been an indication that the Bigfoot was around [sic] for some time.

-------------------------

Ronald Smith is an interesting fellow.  I spoke with him on the telephone last fall and he didn't want anything to do with talking about Bigfoot.  In fact, he almost disavowed the entire incident.  It is interesting to me because he lost a horse in the entire ordeal.  One of his horses was found dead the next morning with no discernible injuries.

Initially the accounts I have read attribute the horses death to being run around the field and being scared to death.  When I spoke with Mr. Smith he blamed nearby construction the day before causing his horses to be scared and run around.  I asked if I could photograph on Mr. Smith's property and he declined.  I drove around to the backside of this property and shot across his horse field back toward a line of trees where his home was located.

This incident is one of several - perhaps a dozen - that happened in South Weber during February of 1980.

Pineview Reservoir Overlook

Pineview Reservoir Overlook, Utah, 2013

I was driving home in the late evening on a weekday in September 2012 after my work.

Just before the road drops down and crosses the north fork river there is an overlook that looks to the east and views the marshy area that usually is covered up by water of the Pineview reservoir in Ogden Valley, Utah.

There is another viewing area that cars cannot pull off that is just south of this big overlook. I glanced over to my right down into the brush and tall grass and noticed a solid dark figure walking northward with an unusual gait.

He was bigger than normal walking upright with an different arm swing. Another thing I noticed was the palms of his hands traced backward that was interesting to me. I wanted to pull off but was late for an appointment and I didn't dare stop and check it out more fully as I know now I should have.

The view was only for a few seconds but What I saw was not something I recognized. I thought about it many times and wished that I had pulled over and gotten out of the car and watched it longer but it would've been nearly impossible because there were so many cars coming home behind me at the same time.

Duck Pond and Chicken Coop, Liberty

Duck Pond and Chicken Coop, Liberty, Utah, 2012

The night of this past August’s full moon when Sam, a 15-year-old Liberty youth, noticed a large, nearby shadow as he was en route to feed the chickens. “Usually my dog comes with me, but this night she just stopped at the edge of the garage and wouldn’t come any further.

Right before I got to the coop I saw a big shadow. It merged with the small fir trees in the neighbor’s yard, and then the big shadow walked across the open and went behind a mound of dirt. I’m six-foot tall. It was about eight feet, with big, broad-shoulders, and man-like. I thought it was my neighbor or maybe some doorbell ditchers.”

Then the neighbor’s motion lights came on and Sam saw a figure “head-to-toe in black. I couldn’t see any skin or any clothing.” A crash sounded behind him and Sam witnessed a similar creature moving towards the larger one. “It wasn’t sprinting, but it was moving fast,” Sam recounts. When the two figures met, the shorter one headed up the riparian gully that winds east to the mountains.

“The creepy thing,” Sam says, “was that they didn’t say anything to each other before the one just took off. Then the big one just stood there staring me down. I was a little scared. I definitely picked up on a message from him, like he was saying, ‘Don’t follow us.’” Two days later Sam and his mother discovered garden tomato plants stripped of their fruit, and a large reclining imprint in the short ornamental grass on the hill beside their pond.

29th Street Trailhead, Ogden

29th Street Trailhead, Ogden, Utah, 2013

It was late September in 2011. I was hiking in the mountains above Ogden, Utah. It was just before dusk with the sun setting but still lighting up the mountains. On my way back down the trail after many had already descended, I stopped to rest and looked up into the canyon I stood in front of and thought I saw something large and black standing in the scrub oak above the trails. I stood and waived at it to try and get its attention.

A few seconds after I waived, I saw movement to the left. I saw something tall and black jump out from behind some rocks, jump onto a large rock, jump behind another rock, and peek out the left side of the rock down at me. The rocks were cream colored without any scrub oak nearby so the black stood out very well. This all happened very fast. I saw what I thought were tan-colored shoes, which I later determined to be the feet. The color of its face was the color I can only call as a beige/gray. It had short, black hair all around the face.

I stood there speechless and numb. I couldn't move for a few seconds. I kept asking myself, “Did I see a Bigfoot?”, “Who is hiking up here in this heat with sweat pants and a jacket with the hood over his head?” “Nobody can jump that far!” It dawned on me that I might have seen a Bigfoot. Nervously, I started waiving goodbye. I could not make out whether it waived back at me, though. Realizing the light was fading fast I turned and made my way down the hill before the remaining light was gone.

Analyzing the facts in my head, I used the nearby scrub oak as a guide, which grows higher in places than my short 5 foot 3 inches, meant to me the figure I saw was bigger than a person. The stride of the Bigfoot as it jumped was well beyond that of a person as well. The build of this Bigfoot, which differed from other descriptions, reminded me of the video of the three Bigfoots caught on camera while the Utah kids that were sledding down a hill.

I-80 Between Park City and Wanship

I-80 Between Park City and Wanship, Utah, 2013

Anyways, like all good Bigfoot sightings, there was alcohol involved.

Me and 2 of my buddies had been down in Salt Lake at a party and we were on our way back home. Jerry was completely passed out and missed the whole thing. Jeff was about half asleep, kinda drifting in and out. I was in pretty good shape, overall.

There is a section of I-80, between Park City and Wanship, that is a windy canyon and when we came around one corner, my lights lit up something big standing on two feet next to the road. My lights were on it just for a second and then we were past it.

I was nearly overcome with a wave of fear, and Jeff sat bolt upright in the seat and yelled "What the hell was that?" I told him that I didn't know, but that I sure as hell wasn't gonna go back and see. What we saw was big, dark brown and like I said, standing upright.

Now, I've seen pretty much every critter that's supposed to be around here, and none of these would fit the description. Maybe a grizzly bear standing up, but there's no grizzlies around here. Way to big to have been a black bear. We thought maybe a moose that for some reason was standing on it's two hind legs, but for the life of us, we couldn't think of a reason a moose would do that.

We were left with only one conclusion: Bigfoot. Jeff is one of my oldest friends-he stood up with me at my wedding-and to this day he won't speak of it except for when he is really drunk. Then he just says "Yeah-what Pritch said".

San Clemente, California

San Clemente, California, 2012

Date:April 11, 2008

My son and his 2 friends were having a sleep over. They heard noises outside. They couldn't sleep, so his two friends went out on the upper balcony to look.

They noticed a tall figure, they said it was about 8 ft. tall that had come down a trail between two of the town homes. It walked into the middle of the road (this is a steep road) Then it stopped, sensing something looking at it. It looked up toward the two boys and turned around, got on all fours and ran, back between the homes.

They said it ran extremely fast.

I'm the mom, and a little over two weeks later I heard a high pitched scream. It sounded like the recording you have on this site (Klamath, CA., screaming sounds). It was Sunday 4-27-08 10:30 pm.

I had just fell asleep, when I heard the high pitched scream. My dog was sleeping at the end of the bed, she heard it and just stared at the open window (from where the sound came from). Normally, she would have barked, this sound frightened her, she seemed frozen, just staring out the dark window. That's exactly what I was doing as well. The only logical, thing I could think of was an animal being killed. I've never heard such a sound. It's kind of like the dinosaur movies like Jurassic Park, the sounds they made for the dinosaurs.

The area is a hilly townhome association. Behind the association is open hills and a water tower. There is an abundance of wild life in the area, such as; coyotes, rabbits, field mice and snakes.

House on River Road, Eden

House on River Road, Eden, Utah, 2012

This scary encounter took place during the summer of 2001 on River Road in Eden, Utah and in the most active area in the entire Ogden, Valley.

The house that they live in has a big wooden deck and very large glass front that surrounds the door.

One night while the parents were away the daughter had the kids. As the night went on the kids went to bed and the babysitter was reading when she could hear footsteps on the wooden deck and a shadow pass by the window.

The moon was full so she could see that there was someone out there. Sometime during the night the girl was looking out the window and she saw a shoulder appear and an arm reach out to test the doorknob, turning it back and forth. The girl said she was very frightened even though all she could see were the arm and the shoulder. She said it was way too big to be a human. After a short while it walked away and left the house.

Old Liberty Church Corner

Old Liberty Church Corner, Liberty, Utah, 2012

In October 2011, about the 22nd, I was driving from my parent's home in Eden, Utah to my home in North Ogden. It was late at night, about 10:30 pm and there was snow on the ground and it was cold.

I'm not a Bigfooter and have normal curiosity like most people. I was heading north on the main road and came to a stop at the stop sign on the corner where the Liberty church used to be as it had burned down years before.

I looked to my right then to my left which was the direction I was going to turn. When I was taken by a figure walking toward me on my left side down the road I was turning on. It then turned between me and the stop sign for cars coming on my left. It continued past my car and as it did it turned its head to look at me. I could see its eyes shining as it passed, then it walked behind my car and off into the park or pasture.

It wasn't taller than 6 1/2 ft but it was extremely broad in the chest and shoulders. Just massive. I could see its hair in the side reflection of my headlights. I noticed it was not dense fur, but hair, kind of shaggy and of different lengths. It seemed to be just one color but that would be difficult to say in the light.

I judged the distance it was from me to be twelve feet. There was no mistake that this was not a man in a suit. It was not afraid of me in the least. It just looked and kept walking. I didn't turn around because I was so stunned. I wasn't so much afraid as I was very anxious. I just turned and drove over the pass not believing what had just happened, but I knew what I saw.

When I got home I didn't say a thing about my encounter to my husband, then after about four hours I blurted out to my husband, "I saw a Bigfoot at the old Liberty church on my way home!" The experience was so incredible I haven't told anybody about it.

There is no mistake what I saw at twelve feet.

Culvert and Stream, Undisclosed Location

Culvert and Stream, Undisclosed Location, Utah, 2012

In November of 2012 in a mudflat near a reservoir, there were discovered nearly 50 tracks that the individuals felt strongly were attributed to Bigfoot. The group decided to investigate in another area they felt that would show promising results and they found this culvert. it measures approximately 50 feet wide and 5 feet tall and travels under a main road allows a stream feeding the reservoir to pass through.

In the culvert were discovered at least seven impressions of hand prints showing non-human hand structure and were located very low to the water line. The prints were of several varieties, some were clear imprints, some were drag marks along the plastic culvert, some were partial prints. None of them were of the size and anatomy of a normal humans hand print.

The following week I returned with a few friends to explore a different area that we felt would be promising. After walking across the lake bed for a couple of miles we discovered a few tracks that led off into another area where we found dozens, then hundreds, then literally over a thousand prints. We identified at least three different sizes of tracks ranging from 11, 8 and 6 inches long. All exhibiting clear evidence of individual toes and in all kinds of various configurations showing natural foot movement. At no point did we see any evidence of any other type of boot or shoe prints. All of the prints were of bare feet with five toes.

I had brought along a carpenters T-square in the hopes of being able to measure anything we might have found. Little did I know that we would run out of energy to catalog and measure all of the different types of prints.

We saw clear evidence of them chasing deer tracks, doubling back, running in a circle, approaching deep mud and making the decision to change direction. At no point did we see a stumble, a trip,  a skip or even a fall where the individual would have needed to use their hands to get out of the mud.

At one point we found several sets of tracks that paralleled each other for about 100 yards or so, one of the tracks measuring 11 inches and the other tracks were 8 inches. They changed direction and kept in exact measure from each other the entire time. It appeared as if they may have been holding hands as they walked across the mud.

There were also several areas that showed long straight deep drag marks where the single groove was about1-2 inches wide and about 3 inches deep. These grooves ran for 30-40 yards and were paralleled by sets of footprint tracks. I could not decide what these groove marks may have been caused by.

I had my tall rubber boots on and decided to follow a stream that fed into the reservoir when I saw that one set of tracks started up the stream. For the next 1/2 mile I followed tracks in the stream bed, in the mud of the stream and next to the stream bed. I could see where the creature would walk in the water, exit and walk on the land/mud, re-enter the stream bed and continue on up stream until the mud turned into deep grasses and no tracks were able to be seen.

The stream that I tracked along eventually turned out to be the stream that passed through the culvert where the handprints were found the week earlier.

Up until that day I had not seen any tracks or any physical evidence of a Bigfoot creature. After following tracks for miles and miles I can no longer ignore the reality of these animals.

There is a sighting of an animal walking across these same mudflats by a woman driving in her vehicle. I do not have a full account of that story, but will relate it as well as a photograph from her sighting vantage point at a future date.

There are continuing reports of animals in the area currently as of this writing (2/5/2013). I will not disclose the area in an attempt to keep hoaxers and others who would bother these animals out of the area.

Bear Lake Golf Course

Bear Lake Golf Course, Utah, 2012

20 years ago in September a local woman was up at Bear Lake staying in her parent's cabin. She was was walking with her dog and was up the gullies nearby the golf course.

She saw a big hairy thing walking into the trees, saw it for about 20 seconds, it covered its face as it walked into the trees. She sounded very scared telling the story.

I heard this report while attending a town hall meeting that was held in 2011 in Logan Utah. The producers of Finding Bigfoot held this meeting in concert with their taping for the episode that featured reports from Northern Utah. During this meeting I was frantically taking notes and trying to keep up. There were many reports that I had not heard before. The following are notes that I took from a woman who I will keep anonymous. I will try to contact her and get more details if time allows.

Christmas Meadows - River and Cabins

Christmas Meadows - River and Cabins, 2012

I have four recorded stories of sightings in Christmas Meadows in the Uintah Mountains. Here is the second.

-----------------------------------

My parents had a cabin up in Christmas Meadows area of the Uintas. We were up there having our yearly 'clean-out' day where all the adults would clean out the cabins, fix the toilets and get the cabins ready for the winter.

My buddy and I were kind of in the way and we wanted to leave and just go chase rabbits so we headed off about a quarter mile away from where the cabins were chasing some a very large jack-rabbit. It was running around like crazy and then it just stopped, frozen solid and looked at this tree.

As it did we followed it and turning around saw a very large tall hairy dark figure which I think must have been about seven feet tall. It turned around very quickly, so quick that we didn't get a look at it's face.

It tore off up the hillside very quickly pushing the trees out of it's way and making a tremendous noise as it broke branches, moving trees out of it's way as it made it's way up the hill. I heard it scream at us once or twice and I got the feeling that it was a warning for us not to follow it.  We watched it move on two legs up the side of the hill very smoothly and never stumbled. We never felt like we were in danger, never felt afraid, but I felt anxious about how the situation would resolve itself.

The creature we saw had a pointed head, not coned but not round, had broad shoulders, long brown or black hair and had a peculiar 'musty' odor.
